Press Release
For immediate release: February 9, 2006

(Washington, DC) – After completing an intensive nationwide executive search, Wesley, Brown & Bartle (WB&B) today announced that Microsoft Corporation has hired Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Mike McDuffie, as Vice President for U.S. Public Sector Services. In this capacity, McDuffie will be responsible for overseeing and expanding Microsoft’s business with federal, state, and local governments, as well as with public and private educational institutions.

Microsoft’s Brian Boruss, Vice President of U.S. Enterprise Services, praised the hiring of McDuffie, saying that, “he brings over 35 years of valuable industry knowledge as we continue to strengthen and grow our customer relationships across government and education.”

Retired Lt. Gen. McDuffie has spent the past four years helping expand business operations for two other IT solutions companies, Telos Corporation and Anteon Corporation, after having completed a distinguished 31-year career in the United States Army. His final military assignment was as Director for Logistics of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, where he served as principal advisor and confidant to the Chairman. Previously McDuffie had served as Director of Logistics and Security Assistance for the European Command, where he was responsible for a $320 million construction budget and $11 billion in international security assistance.

“We are very proud to have been responsible for bringing Mike McDuffie to Microsoft,” said Wesley Poriotis, Chairman of Wesley, Brown & Bartle, the New York-based executive search and management consulting firm retained by Microsoft. “General McDuffie is one of hundreds of topflight executives that WB&B has been able to bring to America’s leading corporations. He is a perfect example of the kind of unique, nontraditional talent that WB&B is able to locate, cultivate, and deliver to our clients,” Poriotis said.

Wesley, Brown, and Bartle (WB&B) is one of America’s leading management consulting and executive search firms, and the nation’s premier diversity search firm. WB&B has placed executive personnel in over 300 of the “Fortune 500” largest corporations, as well as thousands of smaller companies. They have also helped staff executive branch departments, agencies, and commissions for both the Clinton and Bush Administrations.

WB&B’s Chairman, Wesley Poriotis, is a nationally-known expert on employment matters, having testified four times in the past four years before House and Senate Committees on matters involving employment. He has also founded two nonprofit foundations: the Foundation for Diversity and Career Advancement, to enhance opportunities for managers and executives of color in corporate America; and, at the request of the President and Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Center for Military and Private Sector Initiatives.
