Recruiting firm chief helps dispel myths of corporate diversity through his own career.

New Executive: Kenneth Roldan

Even at young age, Kenneth Roldan ignored the obstacles that rose from his being a minority.

In high school, the Brooklyn-born top student was told by his guidance counselor that he had no chance of getting into Cornell University, his first choice, because he is Hispanic.

The day Mr. Roldan got his acceptance letter, he ran to the school official's office and waved it in his face.

"I knew I could do it," says Mr. Roldan. "I am in the business of dispelling myths."

These days, it's corporate America that Mr. Roldan is trying to set straight.
